So last year Blondy and I had several road trips. One of the most memorable ones was with her gentleman friend. The three of us were on our way home and then (being the adventurous lass that she is) she decided that we should take the dirt roads back home. Don't get me wrong there is nothing that can match the feel of a dirt road. Oh the joy at the feeling of dust forming a protective coating and the occasional puddle forming works of art on my side letting all other cars know that I have an exciting story to tell.
As Blondy was driving she was unable to navigate and had forgotten where the tun off was! So the gentleman directed her on the road that she had hurriedly pointed at. finally the tar gave way to the long awaited dirt. The road was smooth and the corners wound around the hills of the Klein Karoo. We passed a farm house and my Blondy waved to the farmer out of the window. The farmer stared at them as they passed with a curious look on his face. We took no heed and continued down the path.
Suddenly Blondy braked and came to a halt right in front of a wonderful mud puddle. She looked at her friend and said "I think you were right... this isn't the right road..."
Just as she was speaking the farmer with the perplexed look pulled to a halt next to me on a four wheeler. "I think you are lost!"
Blondy went a deep read and nodded. She apologized profusely and explained where they were heading. The farmer laughed and told her where she should have turned and when she said they would turn around the farmer shook his head saying that they were welcome to drive through his farm. He drove with them to the start of the road that they would take and handed them a bundle of apples withing them a safe trip. they thanked him and off we set once again.
Life is filled with detours and unexpected adventures. Each adventure has brought new people and experiences filling life with a wealth that cannot be measured.
